Vehicle Listing Description
Up for sale is what I really think was a great car. This was my Captain's car, bought used in Redondo Beach in 2002. The car was stunning in its all over red paint, and throwing star wheels, so my wife drove the car until 2007, and then I have driven the car until today. The car was ordered and purchased at Vasek Polak in Hermosa, and then migrated to Palm Springs in 2002. Car was purchased with 90000 miles, and gave us another hundred. The head gasket was done about 12 months ago and 700 miles ago, and the engine runs great. However the transmission does not shift into reverse (a recent occourance). I continue to drive the car to work, 12 miles one way, however yesterday was the last day I drove the car regularly, as its time for another used car. Normally these cars are not terribly valuable, but this one looks special, with an all over red that looks like the "sport" model, and the throwing star wheels popularized by the M5 of the day. I had always intended to rebuild the car into a "tuner M" and place a modern M motor in the car when the transmission finally went, and will never get the chance. The clearcoat on the hood is flaking off, but the rest of the car is very good for original paint, the rear bumper fascia was repainted about 6 years ago. There are some scratches, a driving light lens is broken, and the general wear associated with a 200000 mile 17 year old car. Body is tight with excellent weatherstripping, CD changer and everything inside the trunk, and a perfect full size stock honeycomb wheel spare. She could make an excellent driver with a new trans, the battery is new, a track car or modified sedan. The body and wheels reflect the ultimate in early 1990's 5 series fashion. Very few cars in the 5 series were ordered red, and fewer still had the all over red treatment as thia one. This was a special car, but I really am not sure how to determine how special she was. I would like the car to continue, so make an offer.

The interior is very good with three exceptions. The driver and passenger seats up front are worn out, and while a pullover cover was my answer, this may not satisfy all. Also the center console wood has never really fit right, but is ok. The rest of the interior is pretty darn nice.
